Can you share a pivotal moment in your career that shaped your approach to building inclusive cultures?
My first job out of college was as an admission counselor for my alma mater, and it gave me a crash course in real life as I traveled across the country. Most of the places I visited were new to me, and while they were all domestic, each community was uniquely different. Yet, in talking with young people about their post-high school plans, I noticed a common thread: they all sought a place where they could belong and thrive. I loved the idea of helping them find a match as great as mine and wanted them to experience an inclusive, supportive environment to shape their futures. It was a special journey to be on with them, even if my undergraduate experience wasn’t what they were looking for. My goal was simply to help them find their happy place.
What excites you most about participating in the Next Gen Now Summit?
I learn so much from others who are tackling similar challenges but approach them from different perspectives and experiences. I’m most excited about the opportunity to engage with forward-thinking leaders who are passionate about shaping the future of work. The summit provides a platform to exchange ideas and share best practices, and I look forward to collaborating with participants.
What key takeaway do you hope attendees gain from your presentation?
I hope attendees leave with a clear understanding of how intentional strategies, coupled with strong communication and relationships, can create workplaces where everyone feels valued and empowered to succeed.
What emerging trends do you believe will significantly impact intergenerational collaboration in the next five years?
Emerging trends like the rise of AI and automation, along with the growing emphasis on lifelong learning, will significantly reshape how generations collaborate. These changes will require organizations to invest in upskilling and reskilling initiatives that empower employees of all ages to adapt and thrive together.
How can leaders cultivate environments where all generations feel valued and heard?
Leaders can foster inclusive environments by actively listening to their teams, encouraging open communication, and creating opportunities for cross-generational mentorship. We all have something to learn from one another, and embracing that mindset is key to building a culture where everyone feels valued.
